What did she do to you??

What did she do to you??

EVERYBODY needed a bath!! It is so dry and with no grass I have 15 poodles that roll/dig in powdery back dirt! UGH! I know it was a waste of time but at least they’ll stay clean for a day at least (if I only let them play on the deck)! As much as I love spring it presents a HUGE barking problem for me. The dogs are used to having the whole lake to ourselves all winter and when neighbors start to arrive they feel it is their canine duty to alert me. Since everybody is outside doing yard work with 15 dogs the barking can be non-stop. I have lived next to someone who made no attempt to keep their 2 labs quiet. Those poor dogs were in an 8×8 pen with no attention and no exercise, they barked non-stop 24×7 (the people took their phone off the hook at night so no one would disturb them with calls about the dogs) the township did NOTHING (in a neighborhood so houses were close together) and neither did anyone else (as I’m sure every agency available was called at some point). They ALSO never cleaned up poop (which was knee deep) so if the wind was from the east (thankfully we get mostly west wind) you had to keep your windows closed for the SMELL!! I was VERY glad when we moved if for no other reason that to be RID of those A-holes and those poor dogs no one could seem to save (I guess if they have shots and a license that’s good enough)! At any rate that’s not going to be me so in the spring we dig out the PETSAFE bark collars. The babies are especially bad since ALL this is new to them -people, geese, boats, leaf blowers, more cars, quads. So many thing to give warning about and add that to the fact that they are approaching the age where they become protective of their home and family they are pretty noisy (with HUGE DOG barks too)! So today while they are outside they have collars on (off when they come inside) hate to do it, but really have no choice :(

Brownie

Brownie

What a BEAUTIFUL GIRL! She’s Ruben’s big sister Brownie (Holly from 12/29/01 litter of Maggie and Beemer) so nice to see our pretty babies all grown up! Hate that she’s 8 though :(
Everything going great, Izzie’s babies getting so darn cute! Playing and will start “GOO” in a few days. Not my favorite part of baby development :o
Lexie due in 11 days and SO FAT! Patti due April 20th and it is always so hard to get her to eat. She refuses ANY kibble of ANY kind, she knows she’ll get the raw hamburger recipe that will fatten her up, liver and turkey. She’s right :)
Big babies are filthy playing in the yard! They are loving this warm weather rolling and romping and OH YA DIGGING!! Little stinkers! They are so darn cute and getting so big. Skittles is taller than most of the girls and 50lbs he is going to be a Huge beautiful guy, getting more speckles AND I LOVE SPECKLES!!!

Enjoying the day!

Enjoying the day!

I went outside to see what the little stinkers were up to, only to discover they were enjoying the sunshine! They are such good babies (although I WISH they wouldn’t DIG!) :0
This movie is SO ADORABLE!! It’s JAMBOREE/Aspen chasing bubbles with his 3 year old girl. Aspen was fixed this week and the instruction after surgery is always REST, it’s just not possible with a happy puppy. His bubble chasing was not much more that a fast walk yet let him play. He is such a cute guy!!
CLICK HERE to see the movie
As my big babies go home (Mayflower, Toby/Goo and Fiesta) Lexie’s babies will present themselves. She went home with Tom this week (Lake City) but will have to stay here next week while we wait for the babies. She is really NOT going to like ANY time away from him, she hates it when he goes to the garage without her (has this horrified look on her face “OMG he’s leaving me!”). The first few weeks she’ll be busy with her kids after that she will want to go home with him. Izzie’s babies get cuter by the minute!! 18 days old and SO CUTE!!!

Gaia and Martin

Gaia and Martin

We got a nice update on Gaia our Citori/Beau baby from the August 21, 2009 litter. She lives with Martin who was rescued and like many rescues had some issues, seems Gaia has been good for him! Everett (their son) kept an arms length from dogs after their last poodle Bruce was hit by a car just 3 months after the death of their beloved old poodle
Hey Ladies
Sorry to be so long in getting back. Gaia is doing well and yes she is still Everett’s girl. Kate claims her in her better moments but she is definitely partial to Everett. It is great to have him back into the dogs. It has actually even improved his relationship with rescue boy Martin, they are both sleeping in his room!

Gaia has passed puppy and basic obedience and we are starting agility with her and Martin in 2 weeks. She really shows Martin how to act it is a hoot. They get along well only trouble is at dog school he is very possessive of her. We got her spayed 3 weeks ago and she did well no complications. Her color has not changed too much but she does seem to be getting more white hairs in with the brown in the phantom areas. Everett is afraid she will get a white behind like some monkeys as it is most obvious there and on the bottom of her feet J
Nice to see all the new babies on facebook
Take care
Sara
We love the updates and were happy to hear Everett can’t resist her :)

Harlee and I picked up a bug in our travels last week, we are both under the weather. I had big plans for today but haven’t managed to get enough energy to do more than let the dogs in and out.

15 days to go

15 days to go

Lots of babies in there! 2 weeks to go and they put on the most weight in the last 2 weeks! Cant wait to see who we get!! Maybe some surprises like sister Izzie had! she is so uncomfortable!! Harlee and I (and several dogs) went to Grand Rapids and spent quite a bit of time comparing dog food. One thing is clear QUALITY is not reflected in the PRICE. I found one brand that was $54 for 30lbs and it was THREE stars!! PRO PLAN $40 was 2 stars! We brought home Chicken soup for the dog lovers soul (4 star) $1 per pound and Canidae $1.11 per pound (4 star) and 4health (Only available at tractor supply) $1 per pound 4 star. I put it in 3 seperate buckets and marked them, so far 4heath is the clear winner. I always feed 2 kinds and the brands I picked were “all stages of life” (important with so many different ages). I found too that the same name like Natural Balance has foods in all star catagories making choices even more confusing :0 Harlee picked out 4 new toys for the puppies :)

Two weeks old

Look at how big these babies are at JUST TWO WEEKS!! Eyes open and already acting like little dogs! They get cuter by the minute!! Every week I say to myself “awww THIS is my favorite age!” then the next week, NO THIS is my favorite age!! Then the next week this really is my favorite age! AND I DO IT EVERY TIME :) Truth is every age and every color IS MY FAVORITE! ALL so cute!! I’ve decided to get 4 bags of different 4 and 5 star dog foods and do a taste test. So Harlee and I (and the dogs) will be making a trip to Grand Rapids and comparing ingredients and prices. Going to have lunch with Aunt Janet then back home. Trisha has a busy weekend planned so we’re skipping this weeks visit :(

Athena/Tala

Athena/Tala

They are SO BEAUTIFUL!! And how nice they get to spend so much time together (each owned by family members)!! Here’s what they said about their wonderful POODLES!!
Hi Trish,
Thought you would enjoy these pictures. Tala is weighing in at 51lbs and Phoenix is 70lb. We may be biased, but we think that you should use Phoenix as a stud dog, he is yet to be fixed, and is so gorgeous.
Hope all is well with the puppies, we love looking at the updates.
Jodi
They are right PHOENIX IS FABULOUS (as is Tala)!! But we have his dad (Beau) who makes lots of beautiful babies! :) As does his daughters!! Izzie’s babies (TWO weeks old already) have their eyes open (SO CUTE) and already they know they don’t like the flash (shut their eyes). Lexie is due in a couple of weeks, can’t wait to see who we get!! I got a LOT of comments on the dog food post yesterday, I wasn’t the only one who thought they were feeding TOP BRANDS ($40)only to find out they were the same quality as DOG CHOW ($20)! GRRRRR I looked on the PURINA website for a CONTACT US link, but didn’t find one (not surprising) I really wanted them to explain the TWO STAR RATING!! Can you tell I’m pissed about this???

There is no room for you Nyxie!

There is no room for you Nyxie!

I love POODLE EXPRESSIONS!! Izzie is already sharing the puppy box with her mom Citori, and sister Nyxie wants in! So funny, poor Izzie I don’t think she REALLY wants to share her babies.
I AM SO UPSET! For years I have bought my dogs food that I believed to be top quality @ $40 a bag I certainly expected it to be TOP END. Recently Trisha had started comparing brands and discovered that
Eukanuba and Pro Plan were TWO star foods (five possible stars)!! OMG it’s crap!! AND the “mystery meat” can be euthanized PETS or diseased cattle!! Trisha switched awhile ago to Blue Buffalo (5 stars) but my dogs didn’t care for it. I got a bag of 4HEALTH last night and they gobbled it down! I have very limited choices here in the sticks so I may need to make a monthly trip to Petsmart and stock up. These greedy companies cheapen the ingredients and expect you not to notice (worked with me) I should have though, the better the food, the less poop you have and with 10 dogs I should have noticed a significant increase in WASTE!! I’ll be paying attention from NOW ON! Look you food up on this website that rates the foods CLICK HERE

Ruben and Scoodles

Ruben and Scoodles

Ruben is SO FUNNY! Mindy got him this Zhu Zhu pet, at first he was scared of it then he decided he liked it (or plans to kill it)! The puppies look at it with such a puzzled expression you can see them trying to decide WHAT it is! They are like kids with new toys :) Made a movie of Ruben and Scoodles but that darn Reba won’t stay out of the way (she’s a little busy body and oversees everything) I had just booted her out of the pictues, little stinker kept coming back. Mayflower will be going home April 7 to join Jamboree/Aspen. They have a little girl 3 years old that is so excited to meet her, she LOVES May-fowers name and it will be going with her! MAY LOVES HARLEE so it’s a perfect fit for her, her own little girl! May will provide JACKSON their 12 year old Great Pyrenees with some relief, giving Aspen someone to romp with :)

She didn’t steal them SHE’S BABYSITTING :) Trisha came home and poor Izzie was outside the box and grandma Citori was TRYING to nurse the babies!! Poor babies were frustrated because grandma has no milk!! We have such good moms :)
Citori has her own babies and here is Silver/MoeBear from her 1st litter and what his family said about him:
Hi Barb and Trisha!

So sorry it has been awhile since sending pictures of our Bear! I did not get Christmas pictures out because we moved over the holidays.

MoeBear is doing great! We moved out into the country and he is loving it! On most days he is my constant companion … loves to take the kids to school and pick them up. He just loves to be with us all of the time! He takes his people and house watching seriously since we moved out here … that has been kind of interesting!

I hope all is well with both of you! Someday, we will add another parti poodle to our family.

We will join you for the parade if we are up in TC at the right time this summer.

Harlee meets HUGO

Harlee meets HUGO

More memories :)
Hugo has a new home. Susan is so excited about her new boy!! She loves that she can be a part of his early life with us. He’ll be off to Virginia in six and 1/2 weeks. It’s a good thing he was picked early. Trisha really wanted to keep him (and that’s hard!) Now she knows he has a new momma and thoughts of keeping him are a waste of energy :(
ANOTHER WONDERFUL UPDATE ON KUDOS/Nicholas I love hearing about how easy that settle in to their new home, she is certainly NOT bugging me :) Who could get enough of hearing HOW FABULOUS OUR BABIES ARE?????
Barb,

I promise I won’t bug you every day with updates. But we are just so thrilled with him! You were right about him meeting Parker, our Shepherd. Kudos LOVED meeting Parker and having another dog around, and Parker loves it too! Kudos has completely opened up – he’s having a super time. I wish I had a video camera to capture the two of them playing – they are just having a ball. We need to let Parker have a rest now and then as he doesn’t have the same energy level, and then Kudos is looking all over for where his buddy went to! If I can keep up with them I’ll send you a few photos!

Kudos also enjoys watching college basketball and March Madness and was quite happy with the Northern Iowa win last night (since his new mommy went to Northern Iowa!)

Kudos in his new home in Georgia!

Kudos in his new home in Georgia!

Got a wonderful update on Kudos!! His new family is thrilled with him!! Here’s what his mom Carol said about his transition: Hi, Barb! Thought I’d send you a few early pictures – will get some later with Jim and me in the picture when we have someone to take it (Jim and our Shepherd, Parker, are at our property in the North Georgia mountains getting the garden going and fertilizing blueberry bushes! Next time Kudos will go and I think he’ll love it.)

We’re doing great. He was pretty shook up and shy last night – wanted lots of petting (which I’ll gladly give!); his favorite first spot was underneath the kitchen table where he could see everything going on but felt safe. We tried taking him to the backyard to go potty when we got home from the airport but there was lots of noise he wasn’t crazy about – people running lawnmowers, people gardening on either side of us and making some sudden noises. And of course everyone in the neighborhood wanted to meet him the minute we pulled him out of the truck. When we brought him in the house where we could control the sudden noises he did much much better. He did great last night – only one little whine at about 2:30am when he needed to take care of some business.

He’s much more relaxed today. We’ve seen the tail high in the air, he’s eating, he likes to trot back and forth between Jim and I to alternate petting. He’s really opening up today. Today, we’re mainly working on getting him comfortable with his new surroundings and getting him comfortable with the leash. He is not a fan of the leash, so am just hooking one on him and letting him walk around w/o me on the other end to help him know it’s nothing to be scared of. He’s also getting used to the backyard and all the noises – neighbor dogs, geese, ducks, lawnmowers, etc. We’ve been sitting calmly in the backyard – it’s an absolutely beautiful day here! Oh – and we’re still working on a name. We’re down to a handful that we’re trying out to see which one fits best. He has not yet met Parker or our cat – we’ll introduce the two dogs tonight.

Barb, thank you so much again for him. He is just so beautiful and sooo sweet. The first thing my best friend commented on were his sweet eyes! He is such a precious gift!

Hopefully these pics come thru – if not, let me know. I’m sending them from my Apple (love it for personal use) but sometimes I have to send them on my work laptop so they show up as file attachments.

Thanks!

Carol LOVE hearing these great reports and looking forward to photo’s and updates!! Got some wonderful photo’s of brother Nips/Domino too. Su-Yun and I work for the same company (she in New Jersey, I’m in Michigan) and we chat on and off all day via the inter-company chat called “Q” she is adding one of the black/tan phantom boys to her family (poor little Newdy the Yorkie is not much of a playmate for Domino) she will have a stunning trio!! She already gets lots of comments about her Domino! Harlee and I really enjoyed the day! Couple of hours with Trisha and the puppies and some shopping (today we bought her fuchsia sandals with big pink gems)! Today’s movie with the pups 10 days old CLICK HERE

New toy!

New toy!

Puppies remind me of kids when they have new toys, so fun to watch them :)
Kudos is on the plane to Georgia, there was some problem so he had to spend extra time in Detroit. I pick the flights with short delays for a reason! But I look at it as one horrible day to get on with a wonderful loved life. They seem to forget it as soon as it’s over! Cesar says they live in the moment.
My precious boy broke my heart, he was all checked and secure in the crate waiting for them to take him out back and I said “goodbye my prince” and he let out this little whine in response. Harlee (now 5 said “he said he’ll miss you” I left the airport with VERY watery eyes. As happy as I am that he’ll be joining a wonderful home, handing them over is painful (every pup, every time). I’ve told Trisha that if the day ever comes that it doesn’t bother me to part with them, then it’s time to quit. I don’t want to be one of those breeders.

After considering how long the day would be if we waited for Trisha to get home from work we decided to go back tomorrow to see the puppies. On the way home Harlee and I stopped at Walmart to purchase “Barbie potty training pups” (I gave in after 90 miles or so) I can’t believe this toy! You give the puppies water in this bottle and they pee on papers that turn YELLOW!! OMG! We had lunch at our favorite place Culvers :) Fun day with my sweet little grand daughter.

Omg this sweet little face. So precious!! It’s LOCKE our surprise cream baby boy! One week old already! All the babies are so plump and healthy, Izzie is a wonderful mom!!
I must say I hated FACEBOOK at first but now I love it!! We really enjoy the interaction with the fans and posting pictures. We love how people tell us they look forward to out pictures and since I take 300 a day. I love sharing them :)
Harlee and I will have a busy day tomorrow, we need to have Kudos at the Lansing airport at 10am for his trip to Georgia which means we need to leave here at 8am at least. Then we need to kill time until 5 when Trisha gets home from work (won’t be hard lots of stores & mall close to her house). Harlee LOVES shopping, girl has a thing for shoes (that’s how she picks her Polly Pockets- the shoes that are in the package) so funny at FIVE years old! We’ll take May and Fiesta. The boys will have to stay home with Tom.

Jeff and Ruben

Jeff and Ruben

I had a nice visit with Jeff yesterday. I met Jeff in 1993 when he took home one our black baby boys, Claude. He has always stayed in touch and in 2000 they added Bonnie to their family. Jeff, Cheryl and the poodles would stop by occasionally on their way to Kalkaska for a visit. Always fun to see them. When Claude passed, I was puppyless but had just found Nicole in Kalamazoo area and told them about her cream brother. They brought Parker home. Jeff enjoyed meeting Ruben, his Claude’s great, great, great nephew! AND Mayflower, Claude’s great, great, great, great, great NIECE!! (NO, it’s not easy to keep this straight). EIGHT generations is SO FUN!!
My Jazz ma TAZZ is back home, moving slow but fine. I was worried about her babies jumping on her, but they’re being so careful. They seem to know. I was trying to keep her separate but she was having NONE of that!! HAS to be here in the mix. She is happily chewing a rawhide with Kudos & Pez/Elliot laying next to her :)
Harlee and I are going to visit the new babies Friday or Saturday (depends on if we’re shipping someone). She will love seing babies that don’t bite :)
Everybody enjoying this weather!!

So many new things to discover now that the snow is gone. I can’t believe there is any junk in the yard left for them to EAT! Pine cones and needles, sticks, stones and leaves!! SO MUCH FUN!! Jazz is at the vet getting fixed, having her ears cleaned and nails done while she’s under. It’s SUCH a battle that this will save us both a lot of grief. Teeth too if she needs it. sore or not she’ll be happy to be back home (overnight UGH!) Got a WONDERFUL update on Toby/Elias! NATURALLY they are thrilled with him :) Dear barb i cant thank you enough he is the best thing next to life he is such a happy baby i cant wait to take pictures this week end ill send you some picture’s last night i did not want to let him sleep alone so we put him in our room in the middle of the night how he did it we dont know he jump in bed with us my husband say’s it wont be long he’s going to take over when i left for work thank god i work about 4 blocks away about 3:00 pm i came home for lunch and this little guy had a big meat bone sitting on my bag relaxing well i felt better that he’s just fine from the plane ride but yes i will call delta as well all i can say is were a very happy family you made us all very happy all the best i speck to you soon keep up the good work thank you victoria Hard to type on those tiny blackberry keys :)

Jazz and Winston

I love this picture :) It’s Jazz meeting Winston and the result of the rendezvous was our precious parti boys (and sister Cella)! Jazz gets “fixed” tomorrow and I can’t believe how sad/worried I am. She has to spend the night and she is going to HATE that. No more Jazz babies :(
Everybody is doing great. Lexie is getting a little baby belly. Izzie babies are getting so fat, we got such a nice mix of colors (lots of boys lately!). Mayflower is such a doll, the boys are playing kind of rough so I make sure I’m outside with her. Fiesta is losing her baby look, such a beautiful girl with a thick, thick coat!! FABULOUS!! The parti boys are going through that awkward stage. Huge feet, knobby knees and long legs so fun to watch them play!! Such good boys!

Mayflower (108) Fiesta (190 days old)

My BEAUTIFUL GIRLS!! Mayflower and Fiesta. AGH I dread the day they leave me! Toby finally made it to New York and his new family ADORES him (who wouldn’t). Victoria was so worried he’s be upset but as soon as they got him home he happily played with ALL HIS NEW TOYS, and chewed a chewy, she couldn’t believe it. She promised to send pictures :)
Tina sent me some pictures of the dog show (I assume Chicago) those poodles are so beautiful (so our ours!)! We don’t show and don’t care to. I find the politics at work all I can stand (yes I have a full time job with a large corporation), and I find show people are QUITE ARROGANT especially when it comes to parti and phantom poodles. They refer to them as sub-standard (no pun intended) when parti was the ORIGINAL colors.

My first trip to see the babies and they are ADORABLE!! That Hugo is so unique!! Locke BEAUTIFUL COLOR. THOSE black and tan boys are FABULOUS! The contrast is going to be striking just like their dad!! And naturally the phantom girls are fantastic (one girl has become available)! We made a movie so you could meet them CLICK HERE TO MEET THE BABIES Izzie is such a good mom :) Grandma Citori really wants to steal them. Harlee and I have a trip planned for next Saturday, she hasn’t loved tiny puppies in awhile.
Toby is off to New York although we had a snag. Due to a storm in at JFK airport all flights were canceled, so Toby was stuck in DETROIT. AT LEAST DELTA CALLED! Northwest NEVER did, you found out when the pup didn’t arrive!! Victoria is picking him up at Laguardia (SP) so he will get there, just a little later. Sounded like they were taking GOOD care of him, I’m IMPRESSED, I dreded flights with Northwest thet were a nightmare!

Grace and Niles

Grace and Niles

Grace is doing GREAT! Here’s what her mom said (Niles is a Maggie/Beau baby) Hi Barb,
Just thought I’d give you an update on my babies. Niles and Grace are getting along better. I think it was an adjustment for Niles. I think they actually like each other. They play all the time and Grace holds her own. Actually, I’m more concerned about Niles. He is allowing her a lot of space and she takes advantage of it. She is a really good dog and she’s getting bigger by the day. They are very smart together and Niles is teaching her all the tricks. When she initially cried in the crate when we put her to bed, he barked at her like he was yelling at her to go to sleep. He only needed to do this twice and she readily goes to sleep at night. Niles likes his bedtime and he wasn’t letting her interfere with that. Grace has learned to sit, lay down, and give her paw on command, as well as sits at the front door when she needs to go out. A few accidents, but generally doing well. Attached is a picture of them last night, when I had enough of their rough playing and told them to “stop”. They retreated and laid down together. I thought it was quite cute. They do like to be together all the time and Niles is patient when she drinks from his bowl. He just doesn’t like it when she takes his cheese ( his favorite thing). I’m glad we brought Grace home and Niles and her are becoming great friends. I guess I’m not use to the rough play. The only good thing is when Niles was a puppy, he use to bite us, now Grace has Niles to bite, so she doesn’t bother with us. Ha ha ….Thank you for such loving, beautiful puppies. We adore them every day!
Tricia Ward

LOVE THESE UPDATES!! and appreciate people taking time to send them :)
Toby is off to his new life tomorrow. We are always nervous about the flight but they get there safe and sound every time. This is a short flight (New York) and he doesn’t mind the crate so he’ll be fine. We send them with goodies (kong, juicy bones and or rawhide), blanket and toy that smells like us and frozen water. The boys will have to stay here, they trip is too long (2 hours to the airport) to take them and stop to see the new babies. I’m taking Fiesta and May (I can handle 2 not 6) Fiesta LOVES to go and I don’t like to leave May with the boys, sometimes they get to rough.

What a surprise!! We expected all phantoms and got a parti and cream!! Izzie did great (always a relief). Grandma Citori is a bit jealous, it doesn’t look like Izzie will share her babies with her mom :)
Got wonderful updates on Pie and Maize yesterday!! My pretty girls are doing great!! Here’s what their mom said about them: Hello Barb!
We wanted to send a poodle update your way. The girls are doing so well in their new home! They’ve been to our vet for a new puppy/welcome visit and he raved about their wonderful health and sweet dispositions. We are enjoying watching their personalities unfold daily!!! Emma (Maize) loves meeting new people while Lily (Pie) takes charge when it comes to meeting new canine friends. We have been training using a clicker which they both really seem to enjoy. It only takes about 10 minutes to learn a new behavior! You have done a great job of socializing our two puppies. We are so glad that we chose to take both girls; they really give each other a workout. ~ The Hartwigs

P.S. Sounds like you have a new batch of puppies due tomorrow. That should fill the house back up. ~ The Hartwigs Two poodles are twice the fun and I love it when siblings can stay together!!

NIPS/Domino first haircut

ISN’T HE FABULOUS (do I say that every day???) our NIPS/Domino who got his first big boy hair cut!! Here’s what his mom said about her wonderful boy!!
Hey Barb,

Here are the pictures I promised. Our boy is really getting more and more handsome every day and BIG! Here he is with a haircut. He still looks big without all the hair (his legs just look longer :)

I cant stress enough how smart this puppy is. He is fully housebroken. I trust him in the house completely; I do not even give it a second thought. I really cant believe that he is just turning 4 months. I almost forget that he is just a baby. Also, he is very, very, strong! I try to be firm with him on walks (otherwise he will drag me down the street easily). He is learning that pulling only makes me stop and takes him longer to get to where he is trying to go :) Funny; he looks at me as if he wants to say: “come on mom; grow two more legs or somethin!” LOL

Anyway, I will keep you updated with his progress as promised. I love this guy to pieces. He is absolutely awesome and I couldn’t be more thrilled with his progress.

P.S. I included a picture of Newdy in his brand new sweater. My daughter says he looks like a little elf. LOL

Talk to you soon,

Beautiful ROMAN!
I love how LaRue sends me pictures of him, I can never get enough. Francis Claires babies are my beloved pets rolled into one! My 8 generations starting with my precious Tootsie.
Tom, Bill and Tootsie 8 weeks

Tom, Bill and Tootsie 8 weeks

I remember this day so well, we had taken the boys and Tootsie (8 weeks) to see a friends new lambs (sheep farmer) it was a VERY fun day and all 3 were EXHAUSTED on the ride home. Poodles add a little bit more to already great memories!!
We are having potty training SLIPS and I KNOW it’s because I’m not leaving them out long enough. IT is so muddy!! and it doesn’t look like the ground is going to refreeze any time soon. UGH!

Artax/Hershey 3 years old

As promised Jamel sent us pictures of her Hershey. He is so beautiful and has held his color nicely!! Here’s what his mom said Hi Barb and Trish,

Here are a few pictures of our wonderful Hershey. I can’t tell you how much we love and enjoy him! BTW, he now weighs in at 85lbs.

Jamel BIG BOY TOO!! It is so fun to see our babies loved and grown up.
Izzie babies can come anytime :) Got to say that 2 months went FAST!!

Cuddling with Toby

Cuddling with Toby

Mayflower is so funny! She walks across the room and FLOPS down on Toby’s head. He never moved. That boy is so laid back, nothing rattles him. Crate training is a breeze. He lays in there without making a peep (as you recall NIPS HOWLED). Kudos has a very similar personality. Skittles loves other dogs, everybody gets a kiss, every day! Such good boys!
Ruben is off to spend some time with Andria as her homework requires a dog over 5. Poppy Lucille is here with her girlfriend Fiesta! Now if the ground would freeze again!

Wonka's family

Wonka's family

Got a wonderful treat this morning in an email about HUGO AKA Wonka. It was a welcome announcement and so adorable! I wasn’t able to copy it as sent but I did get the verbage and a couple pictures that were posted (looked like a bulletin board) it was sent to family and friends, I was so happy to have been included!

He’s our four-month-old, 33-pound standard poodle. Bred and raised so far by Barb Dunlop, an incredibly loving and clever poodle maven who lives in Mecosta, Hugo is adjusting well to the abrupt change in his living conditions.

Hugo came from a large immediate and extended canine family including seven brothers and one sister. Three of them were available for adoption and it was really difficult to choose. They are all such gorgeous, polite young men. Obviously they take after their bio-mom, Jazz (below, left), who will be retired now to a well-deserved life of leisure. Chris, Ava and Luc (see belly) made the journey with us; Ava, of course, had final approval of the decision.

Hugo was comically perplexed (and, let’s just say it, scared) of the two cats in his new home and tried to bolt out the back door when he first laid eyes on them. He’s getting braver by the minute, though and we anticipate physical contact between them soon. The cats are relentless in their quest to figure him out. Of course that’s difficult to do when Hugo is hiding behind Jackson.
They adapt very quickly. They seem to know this is their new home and they get busy getting comfortable with everything.

What kind of dog are you?

Goo is spending the day with his dad. He’ll be here with us another month but his dad is taking advantage of the nice day to do some leash training and get acquainted.
I gave 4 hair adult haircuts today. Ruben is going to Bill’s for a couple days. Andria (4th grade) needs him for some homework. She has to do some training with him and record it (this will be interesting) I have to send a ball and a few toys. The “subject” has to be over five (maybe they are testing teaching and old dog new tricks) or she could have used Poppy. Poppy will be here to minimize distractions, Fiesta will love that, her BFF to play with!!

Izzie in waiting

Izzie in waiting

Sweet Izzie another few days to go before she meets her babies! Trisha said she has been very needy (more than usual)!! As anxious as we are to meet the babies we DRED first litters. The mom absolutely has no CLUE what just happen and is very confused, if you’re not there to get the baby out of the sac, it will die. After a couple pups she seems to “get” that they are hers and she dives right in to taking care of them. It’s a HUGE relief to have it over!! Both Jazz and Citori are great moms that have easy births so we don’t expect any problems.
WONKA joined his family today. The Gilbert family had a deposit on one of Lexie babies but couldn’t resist the cute little faces of our current babies!! Hard choice- they liked them all but Wonka really liked their son! When the babies picks you, you can’t go wrong :) They haven’t decided on his new name, can’t wait for an update and photo’s of my babies new life.

THese kids are getting so BIG!

THese kids are getting so BIG!

Getting hard to tell the babies from the adults! They are as tall as some of the girls! Still babies and SO CLUMSY!! They love the adults and their warm welcome usually gets somebody nipped (they don’t know when to QUIT!). They really don’t get it, they are so comfortable with the adult dogs that they whaller all over them. I love the look on their mothers face :) On the other hand George is over here (Citori/Beau baby 2 years old) until tomorrow afternoon. They freak when they see him (he’s a big wooly bear). They bark nonstop at the sight of him (even when he is no where close) ALL OF THEM! NON STOP! So I have been moving dogs around to minimize noise. Fiesta loves him although he is not too sure about her. This is WAY out of his comfort zone. Toby is going to be a NEW YORKER, he flies Saturday 3-13. His new mom is so excited!! Goo has a new dad but he will be here with us another month (his dad is going on a trip) since I’ll have Pez/Elliot awhile they’ll be good company for each other. The yard is a M E S S!! This warm weather makes for SO MUCH additional WORK! AGH!!

Harvey and his family!!

Harvey and his family!!

Harvey was Trigger from Cirori and Beau’s first litter. He is a happy boy and loves whatever his family is doing!! Machelle promised to send pictures and they were worth waiting for!!
Awwwwwww Aunt Barb! You are so sweet!!! We sure thought of you this morning, because YOU are the reason we have the love of our life!!!!!

Harvey is GREAT – best dog in the universe. I recently made a decision (since I’m 40 now) that if I decide in the next year no more babies, then I’ll want another Harvey!! I really could see having even 3. He is seriously the best dog ever – so much that we cannot imagine a day without him. I know you get this. Even this morning Alex got a little teary and he’s like Mom, he’s 3, but he’s YOUNG right, because I don’t want him to die. Of course I assured him Harvey has many many many years with us.

I have a bunch of pictures from this past weekend, but they are on my home computer. I will definitely send you some. He is HUGE right now (well, his hair is! lol) We decided to let it go for the

winter and I’ve had like 40 compliments on him, he looks like a big BEAR or a Newfoundland. LOL. It’s been 4-5 months since his last cut and his hair grows better and faster than mine. lol. I know grooming will be scary (yikes). Any secrets to when it gets that long? I’m assuming cut with good scissors first? He looks like he is 150 pounds, it’s hilarious!!!!

How are you guys? How are your babies????

Harvey and his boy!

A family dog makes life time memories. My siblings and I still talk about the dogs we had as kids. You never forget them :(
Everybody here is great. LOTS of muddy feet!!
PS I’m rooting for Didi hope she makes the top 10!!

Beauty/Shayna 3 years old

Beauty/Shayna 3 years old

Happy birthday yesterday to Beauty/Shayna who turned 3! Here’s what her mom said about their sweet girl!
Shayna ( originally Beauty, Citori and Beau’s baby) is 3! We LOVE her. She is our baby girl! She is the sweetest, gentlest, smartest and most playful dog! Here she is in Vermont wrapped up in a towel, in front of the fireplace, after coming in from a hike in the snowy woods. We will post more pictures.
They certainly don’t mind being pampered :) ACTUALLY they expect it!!
This warm weather is horrible (normally I wouldn’t think so) but the MUD!! aaaaGH! Pups love the sunshine (who doesn’t??) they lay out on the deck and watch the activity on the lake. That Toby is just the sweetest boy on earth, he lets Mayflower kick his butt. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him get mad about anything SO GENTLE! They are all sweet and adorable but you can see his personality in those kind eyes, this guy is SO ADORABLE! SO HIS MOTHER!!

Got promises for more pictures :)
Took the babies with me to get dog food and some stuff as Menards. Not easy loading those 40lb kids into the back of the POOhaul, seems like they like to go (once you catch them) but like it or not it’s good for them. Mayflower and Fiesta are in the cab with me (and Parris and Maggie this trip) the boys are kind of rough on Mayflower so as best I can, I separate her. The problem with that is, the boys are jealous and give her an even harder time, she holds her own one on one but they will gang up on her, kind of like BIG brothers!! They got femurs and have swapped them reminding me of musical chairs. So funny to watch these crazy sweet babies!

March 1, 2010 Happy Birthday Citori & Beau’s second litter!!

Derek/Renny 2 years old

Derek/Renny 2 years old

Happy Birthday to Citori and Beau’s second litter!! Lexie, Izzie, George, Callie, Bailey, Meridith/Belle, Derek/Renny, Sloan/Issac and Alex/Charlie. Here is an update from Carolyn in LA who has our Renny!!

Renny will be 2 tomorrow. He is such a wonderful pet. Everyone who meets him just loves him. He is the most social poodle I have ever had.
He will go up to anyone wagging his tail, wanted them to notice him. But also a fabulous watchdog. Especially at night. If he doesn’t recognize the person, he will emit a very quiet low grumble. As soon as I say oke, he stops and wants to go and visit.
When I purchased these toys at Costco, I figured they would last a very short time, as Matisse loves to remove the stuffing and the squeaky. We gave them all three, they came in a 3 pack. And Matisse removed the stuffing and squeaky from one and has left all the others intack. That is amazing. But Renny loves them and usually carries one around most of the day. He even took one on a walk. They play tug of war all the time, Renny loves to tangle it in front of Matisse to entice him to play. If that doesn’t work he brings it to me.
After the 4th bout with Rennys poop problem, the vet sent it out for a very extensive panel. It is Clostridium, they have it naturally in the intestines, however Renny had way too much and I think it was going around here, several of my friends have had a problem with their dogs poop too.
Well, the medicine is Tylan powder twice a day 1/4 tsp. After 3 days he was normal, however the vet says to keep him on it for a whole month. So I will, do not want it to come back.
Cannot believe it has been 2 years since I picked up my Renny.
Would love to come to the parade, but I would have to fly and it is too much for the dogs in the heat of the summer.
And much too far for me to drive.
Renny is the best birthday present I have ever gotten, I will celebrate my birthday one March 2.
Can’t wait to see the new pups. C

Tommorrow is the birthday of their first babies, sadly we rarely here from those families :(
Everybody here doing great! I moved one of the puppy cams upstairs so you can see the babies all day. If the room is empty, we went outside to potty (which we do often).
